Peter Stringer commits to Bath

Irish scrum-half Peter Stringer has signed a contract extension and will remain with Bath next season.
The 35-year-old, who has been capped by Ireland 98 times, arrived at the West Country club on loan as injury cover earlier this year but went on to sign a short term contract to finish the season as the club chases a Heineken Cup qualification.
He has since made the No.9 his own and started against Stade Francais on Saturday in their Amlin Cup Challenge Cup quarter-final where he was allegedly spat on by opposite number Jerome Fillol.
Speaking of his decision, Stringer said: “I still feel like I have a lot to give on the rugby field, and really wanted to keep on playing, so was happy to agree a new contract here. I’ve really enjoyed my time with Bath so far, and am looking forward to next season already.”
Bath Head Coach Gary Gold added: “Strings has been fantastic for us in the short time he has been here so far, so we’re really pleased he’s agreed to stay here for next season rather than going back to Ireland.
“He is the consummate professional in everything he does, both on and off the field, and that sets a great example for the entire squad.”
