England women have drawn first blood in the three-Test series against New Zealand with a spirited 16-13 win at Esher RFC tonight.
England took a 3-0 lead with a penalty from captain Katy McLean but the World Champions were 8-3 in front at the break thanks to a try from No.8 Casey Robertson and a penalty from Kelly Brazier.
Kendra Cocksedge went over early to extend the lead but that only spurred England to fight back who clinched the win with two tries from Sarah Hunter Katherine Merchant.
