Charlie Hodgson will be out “for a number of weeks” after the Saracens fly-half underwent surgery on a fractured cheekbone on Monday.
He suffered the injury in the closing stages of last Sunday’s Premiership victory over Wasps at Vicarage Road.
This leaves the 2011 champions without their three playmakers as Owen Farrell and Alex Goode are both away with England for the next month.
The No.10 shirt should be filled by Nils Mordt on Friday against Leicester in the opening round of the LV Cup.
