Gloucester flanker Andy Hazell will appear before an ERC disciplinary hearing following the red card he received against Mont de Marsan last Thursday.
Hazell was shown a red card in the 55th minute by referee Neil Hennessy for striking Mont de Marsan replacement prop Sebastien Ormaechea using his fists and his knee.
A long ban is to be expected for Gloucester‘s long servant as striking an opponent with the fists or the knees carries a potential ban of 52 weeks each.
Gloucester director of rugby suggested that Hazell had been gouged earlier in the game which triggered his reaction and asked the John West to review a number of incidents to confirm their claims.
However, the citing commissioner for the game determined that there was no evidence to support any citings from this match.
Following a request from the Cherry and Whites, the hearing will take place on Thursday, 25 October. Meanwhile, Hazell will be ineligible to play until the disciplinary process has been completed.
