Worcester Warriors Women have confirmed they will be playing in the Premier 15s next season.
Warriors were initially left out of the first eight teams that were confirmed to be participating in 2023/24 back in December, but were given conditional entry a month and a half later.
Warriors still needed to provide information requested by the RFU confirming their 10-year partnership with Cube International, which was set to provide them with the investment required to ensure their continued participation.
That has now been confirmed, and in a statement on the club’s website they have high hopes for the partnership.
It read: “[The partnership] collaborative opportunities to grow the club commercially while providing a sound foundation for long-term success.”
With their continuing place in the league confirmed, Warriors will be hopeful they can now push their way up the table, and build on what has been a strong season on the field.
Warriors are currently well on track to finish in sixth with a six point buffer on seventh-placed Sale Sharks, whose participation in the league has also been confirmed, with two regular season games to go.
That would be their highest finish in the Premier 15s era, showing clear progress for a team that finished bottom in the first two seasons of the league and failed to win any of their first 34 matches, and has since finished in the top eight for four consecutive seasons.
With hopes of becoming a consistent top four team Josh Payne, managing director of Warriors Women, has been thankful for help the club has received and is optimistic for the future.
He said: “Despite all the odds, we are delighted to confirm our place in the Premier 15s next season.
“Throughout this process, the importance of keeping women’s rugby alive and thriving in Worcester has become abundantly clear. We would not be in this position without the community’s unwavering support.
“Now, as we look forward to our future, we’re excited to continue strengthening our squad, developing our players and bringing new world-class talent to the Warriors Family.”
