It hasn’t been the start to the Six Nations that Eddie Jones
and his team would have been hoping for. They have endured two stuttering
performances against France and Scotland to start the competition, and the questions
from England fans are beginning to mount.
Regardless of that, however, England remains the favourites
to win the Six Nations will the majority of bookmakers, which means this guide will be essential to
getting the best odds. Punters will be able to use this bonus
to maximise their returns on Jones’ side to win the competition this year.
However, do they have a realistic chance, or could the title be heading to a
familiar foe?
Saracens Debacle
Hanging Over England
All the talk in the build-up to the opening game of the
tournament was centred around whether the fallout from the Saracens debacle
would have a negative effect on England. It’s hard to say it hasn’t at present,
as the French game on that opening weekend was nothing short of a disaster.
England did try and get their way back into that game, but
the first-half performance was dismal, and the mountain was too high to climb.
England were spearheaded by a sensational second-half performance from Johnny
May, but it was too little too late. The performance was subdued and caused
many to ask whether the fallout and persistent questioning surrounding Saracens
had a negative effect, and it’s hard to argue that the debacle didn’t have an
effect.
Reasons To Be
Optimistic
England followed up their defeat in Paris with a win against
Scotland. Once again, there wasn’t much to like about the game, but England
managed to get over the line. The game was ruined in truth by the windy weather
that derailed any kicking opportunity for Owen Farrell. Regardless, England
were able to get over the line and get their Six Nations back on track.
They remain the favourites for the Six Nations for a reason.
England enjoyed an excellent World Cup, and that is still fresh in the minds of
gamblers. That run to the final brought so much joy to fans and highlighted
just how good this team can be when they are all pulling in the same direction.
England now have two huge back-to-back games against Ireland
and Wales at home that they can’t afford to lose. A slip-up in either of these
games and the Six Nations will be out of reach. Ireland are the first opponents
for the English at Twickenham, and that could be the tougher task as the Irish
are second-favourites in the betting.
The new-look Wales then come to Twickenham after that
meeting, and if England are still in contention, after the Irish game, then
there will be a good chance that Jones and his team could bring home the Six
Nations title.
