England duo Billy Vunipola and Ben Te’o have issued apologies to their teammates after returning late from a drinking session which followed their 38-38 Six Nations draw with Scotland.
Saracens no.8 Vunipola and Worcester Warriors centre Te’o both stayed out until the early hours of Sunday morning after the Scots shock comeback from 31-0 down to tie the game 38-38 and retain the Calcutta Cup.
And while England head coach Eddie Jones allows members of his squad to drink and imposes no curfew, he encourages the team as a whole to go for a drink together.
Vunipola, who started the match, and Te’o have both apologised to teammates who travelled back to England’s west London hotel after the Six Nations classic.
England staff now consider the matter dealt with.
The instance comes two years after Manu Tuilagi and Denny Solomona were sent home from a pre-season summer training camp in 2017 because of a night out.
England finished as runners-up in the Six Nations with their next international fixture coming against Grand Slam-winners Wales on August 11 ahead of the Rugby World Cup.
