Sale Sharks have announced that lock Andrei Ostrikov has signed a new two-year deal with the club.
The big Russian lock joined the club back in 2011 as one of Steve Diamond’s first signings when he returned to the club. He previously played for Agen and Aurillac and was known to Steve Diamond who gave him his International debut when he was in charge of the Russian National Side.
He was a member of the Russian side the played in the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand and has played 26 times for his country.
He said: “Dimes is a great coach and motivator. He has an old-school approach which helps push you forward all the time. I am settled here in the North West with my wife Julia and we are now house hunting in Cheshire. We love everything about the area, the countryside and all the advantages of living near the city.”
Director of Rugby Steve Diamond said: “When I first saw Andrei play, I spotted his massive potential. He was one of my first signings and he is a player who gives everything both on and off the field.
“He plays hard, trains hard and never takes a backward step. He is well respected by the whole squad and it’s great to get his signature on a new contract.”
