Wood among six to sign new Saints deals

Club captain Tom Wood is among six players to renew their contracts at Northampton Saints.
Wood is joined by new England caps Teimana Harrison and Paul Hill, and forwards Ben Nutley, Jamie Gibson and Adam Parkins.
Former England vice-captain Wood has made 129 appearances since joining Saints from Worcester six years ago, winning the Premiership Player of the Season Award in 2011.
Woods past experience in the 2014 Premiership and Challenge Cup finals is graced by the emerging prospects of back-row partner Teimana Harrison and tighthead Paul Hill.
Harrison was fast-tracked into the England setup by Eddie Jones for the victorious tour to Australia, earning his debut in the third Test to cap a season that saw him named his club’s Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year – the sort of wins you can rack up with Bet365, as explained here.
Prop Hill maintains Saints strong tighthead department in signing a new deal, competing against team-mate Kieran Brookes for a starting spot in Jim Mallinder’s plans.
Northampton’s director of rugby expressed his delight at successfully concluding deals for all six, saying, “We’re delighted that all six players have signed new contracts to stay at Franklin’s Gardens,” he said, with the club not disclosing the length of the extensions.
He added: “We’ve seen them all develop massively in their time at the club and to have these deals agreed well before the start of the 2016/17 season means that we can plan with certainty for the future.”
