Jonny Sexton has been ruled out of Ireland‘s tour of South Africa due to injury.
The Leinster fly-half picked up a shoulder injury in the Pro12 final defeat to Connacht and underwent surgery this week.
He is one of four Leinster players to be withdrawn from Joe Schmidt‘s squad with Dave and Rob Kearney and Luke Fitzgerald also picking up knocks.
Fitzgerald sustained a knee ligament injury while Dave Kearney picked up a calf strain.
Rob Kearney meanwhile pulled up in training yesterday and a subsequent scan has shown a hamstring strain that will rule him out of the tour.
They are replaced by Craig Gilroy, Matt Healy, Ian Madigan and Tiernan O’Halloran.
