Leicester Tigers have confirmed the signing of back-rower Luke Hamilton from French club Agen.
Formerly with the Scarlets, Cardiff and Cardiff Blues, Hamilton was a member of the Wales U20s squad at the Junior World Championships in 2012 before moving to play club rugby in France, first in ProD2 and then in the Top 14 with Agen.
The 24-year-old will report for pre-season training at Tigers alongside other new recruits Matt Toomua, JP Pietersen, George McGuigan, Tom Brady and Pat Cilliers.
He said: “I am looking forward to joining the Tigers. It is a club with amazing fans and a great history who play an exciting style of rugby.
“After speaking with Richard Cockerill and Aaron Mauger, I was impressed with the plans for the future and I can’t wait to meet up with the squad in the summer.”
Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill commented: “We have been looking for another player to join our back-row options with Jordan Crane and Laurence Pearce moving on next season and we’re delighted that Luke has now agreed to join us.
“He can play across the back row and gives us some good options there. He is a young man with some good experience in club rugby in Wales and he has done very well in the testing environment of French rugby. We look forward to welcoming him to the Tigers.”
