Back trio commit to Wasps

Rob Miller, Josh Bassett and Brendan Macken have joined and Nathan Hughes in agreeing new terms with the club.
Full-back Miller, who recently made his 100th appearance, against former club , has represented England at U16, U18, U20 and Saxons levels. The 26 year-old has made 35 appearances and scored seven tries for Wasps since joining the club ahead of the 2014/15 season.
He said: “I’m really happy to have re-signed at Wasps. I’ve had a great time here so far and we have an awesome group of lads. The club is moving in the right direction and this has been reflected by the attendances at the games at our new home at the Ricoh Arena.
“As a squad, we are working hard to become a top team and with the strength in depth we have across the squad, we know we have the potential to achieve this. There are some exciting times ahead for us as a team and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
wing Bassett, 23, has scored 27 points in his 21 appearances for Wasps’ first team since arriving from in 2013/14.
He said: “I’m really pleased to have signed a new deal and extend my time at Wasps. It’s a very exciting time to be a part of the club with the move to and the talented players who have been introduced to the squad over the past couple of seasons and I’m really looking forward to playing my part.
“Since moving to the club from Bedford in 2013 it’s been a brilliant learning experience and, as a relatively young guy in a group of experienced wingers, I’ve really enjoyed learning from the other guys in this group and I’m now looking to kick on.”
Centre Macken, 24 has also impressed since signing from last summer and has also been in good form for Wasps in the recent A league fixtures, scoring three tries in their last three games.
He said: “It was a no-brainer signing a new contract as I have loved my time here at Wasps so far. The players and coaching staff have been great and it’s such an exciting place to be at the moment, so I’m really looking forward to being part of everything going forwards. Playing at the Ricoh Arena, with all the facilities there, is amazing and I’m looking forward to moving up to the West Midlands over the summer.
“There’s a huge amount of talent in the squad and competition for places is really driving the players on in training.  Like everyone, I’m working hard to improve my all-round game and am focussing on doing the simple things well. When given the opportunity, I will just try to take it with both hands.”
Director of added: “I’m really pleased that Rob, Josh and Brendan have all committed to Wasps. They are young, skilful players who have fantastic potential and I am sure they will continue to develop and prove themselves as top-class players. I have no doubt there is plenty more to come from these players.”
Wasps also confirm that fly half Alex Lozowski will leave the club to join at the end of the season. Lozowski has made 24 appearances for Wasps since arriving from Leeds University last season.
Young added: “We are really disappointed to lose Alex as we really wanted him to stay. He’s a very talented player and we certainly had big plans for him here.
“We have been in discussion with Alex since the end of last season, trying to agree a contract extension. However, Alex made us aware early on this season that he planned to move on and he will leave with our best wishes. I am sure he will do very well over the coming seasons.”
