Argentina and New Zealand will be the two teams from Pool C in the World Cup in the quarter-finals after the Pumas recorded a 45-16 win over Tonga yesterday.
They will take on France and Ireland in the last eight but they will have to wait until the last round of fixtures next weekend to find out their opponents.
Kurt Morath got over for an early try for Tonga but two converted tries from Joaquin Tuculet and Juan Imhoff helped the Pumas take a 20-13 lead into the break despite another try from Soane Tonga’uhia.
Morath’s second penalty of the game made it a four-point game early in the second half but Argentina pulled away in the last 20 minutes with tries from Nicolas Sanchez, who also kicked 20 points, Julian Montoya and Santiago Cordero.
