Grant Gilchrist will captain Scotland in the World Cup warm-up game against Italy at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.
The Edinburgh second-row, 25, will win his ninth cap in the first of two back-to-back fixtures against the Azzurri.
Head coach Vern Cotter, who will named his starting line-up later this week, has made 11 changes to his 25-man squad from the one that lost to Ireland 28-22 in Dublin last Saturday.
Nine come from the forwards with loose-forwards Adam Ashe, John Hardie, Alasdair Strokosch and Hamish Watson all selected. The other five changes up front are Kevin Bryce, Alasdair Dickinson, Richie Gray, Stuart McInally and WP Nel, coming in for Fraser Brown, Allan Dell, Ryan Grant, Rob Harley and Jon Welsh.
The backs are relatively unchanged although Damien Hoyland and Rory Hughes could be making their Test debut after being named in place of Dougie Fife and Tim Visser as wing options.
