Harlequins today confirmed that Academy scrum-half Jordan Burns will join Greene King IPA Championship side Bedford Blues.
The former sprinter, 21, who joined the Harlequins Academy in July 2012, made his debut against Sale Sharks during the 2013 LV= Cup winning campaign and went on to make four further senior appearances.
Director of Rugby Conor O’Shea said: “This is a great opportunity for Jordan. Because of his X-factor, Jordan finds himself moving between the wing and scrum-half too much.
“This move gives him the chance to commit to scrum-half and make it his own as a fifteens player. We look forward to monitoring his progress with Bedford over the coming season and wish him the best of luck.”
Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer added: “Jordan is an exceptional young player who has flourished since making the move to number nine. Having come through the Harlequins Academy and spending time with Richmond last season, Jordan is ready to step up to the Championship and I’m delighted that he has chosen to join us.
“Jordan comes with a ringing endorsement from the coaching staff at Quins and his arrival means that we now have three exciting scrum halves, alongside Pete White and Henry Taylor, who will have one heck of a battle in earning the starting shirt.”
