As revealed in The Rugby Paper by Neil Fissler on Sunday, Newcastle Falcons have signed Mike Delany ahead of next season.
The Kiwi playmaker, who played for the All Blacks once back in 2009, will arrive from Clermont on a three-year contract.
He said: “I’m excited to be given the opportunity to play for Newcastle Falcons in such a competitive competition as the Aviva Premiership.”
“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience playing in New Zealand, Japan and France to Newcastle and to working with the coaches and great young talent in a team that is on the rise.”
“My family and I are looking forward to getting settled into life in Newcastle, exploring the region and working on our Geordie lingo!”
Director of rugby Dean Richards added: “We’re really pleased to have recruited a quality player like Mike. We have had a very good look at him and his style of play and ability to control a game will fit very well with what we are doing as a club.”
“He is pretty low mileage and in good shape and brings some valuable experience from the French Top 14, Super Rugby and of course being involved with the All Black set up on the 2009 Autumn tour.”
