As revealed in The Rugby Paper on January 25, Micky Young will return to Newcastle when his contract runs out at Bath at the end of the season.
The scrum-half, 26, signed a two-year deal with the team he made his professional debut back in 2008.
He said: “I’m really excited by the opportunity to come back to Newcastle. It is a massive opportunity for me and from speaking to Dean and a few of the guys who are still at the club from when I was there, the ambition of the club is awesome and I’m excited to be part of a set up out to do big things.”
“Everything about the club is positive, from the style of play to the investment in things like the new pitch and I just hope I can use some of the experience I’ve gained in the last four years to make a really positive contribution to the club’s future.”
Director of rugby Dean Richards added: “We’re delighted to have signed Micky and look forward to welcoming him back in the summer.”
“He is very much an example of where we want to be with talented players from the area playing for the club and we are looking forward to seeing him develop in the side.”
Bath Head Coach Mike Ford said: “Micky is a talented player in what has become a very competitive position within our squad. I’m sure he’ll be a real asset for Newcastle, and we wish him all the best there.”
