Scotland duo David Denton and Sean Maitland will miss the start of the Six Nations through injury.
The pair sustained calf and shoulder injuries respectively in the weekend’s European Cup action and have subsequently been ruled out of contention for the start of the international campaign.
Denton left Scotland‘s training camp yesterday for a scan which confirmed he had sustained a tear to his calf in Edinburgh‘s Challenge Cup win over Bordeaux.
Glasgow full-back Maitland also had a specialist scan yesterday which showed damage to his shoulder.
Both players have returned to the care of their clubs’ medical teams where they will receive further care and assessment and could be fit by the end of the championship.
