As revealed by Neil Fissler in The Rugby Paper last Sunday, Joel Tomkins will return to rugby league next season.
The centre has been released by Saracens and will link up with Wigan Warriors two years after switching code.
Tomkins started all three England internationals in November but has since lost his place in the England set-up while Marcelo Bosh wore the No.13 jersey for Sarries at the end of the season.
Director of Rugby Mark McCall: “Joel’s spell in rugby union can only be described as a great success. He worked hard to understand a new code, produced many fine performances for Saracens and was duly rewarded by selection to play for England in the Autumn internationals last season. His achievement within two years has been remarkable.
“We are extremely disappointed to see him leave but Joel has simply reached a decision that he is an even better rugby league player. We wish him and Nicola well in the future.”
