Leeds Met are hoping to make it third time lucky when they face Hartpury in the BUCS final at Twickenham on Friday.
The Northeners have been beaten in the quarter-finals for the past two years by the Gloucester boys but, after dominating the North league and disposing of the reigning champions Durham and Exeter in the two previous rounds, captain Huw Morgan reveals his side will be filled with a mix of revenge, confidence and excitement.
“It’s the first time we have reached the final so we’re over the moon,” he told The Rugby Paper.
“We haven’t played to our best which gives us more confidence going into the game. Hartpury have beaten us twice in the quarter-finals so we’ll be looking to make amends this time around.”
Luke Peters scored two tries in the semi-final on Wednesday as they beat Exeter 42-18 in a game that was done and dusted just after the break.
Liam Edwards, Josh Longson and Sam Rodmans also scored for the Yorkshire side.
Meanwhile, 2012 champions Hartpury reached the final beating old rivals Loughborough 31-14 thanks to two tries in three minutes from Jimmy Litchfield and Tom Ailes just before half-time.
Mark Harrison touched down with a late try while Gareth Thompson kicked 16 points from the tee.
Head coach John Barnes is now facing a tough week preparing for a final as well as a crucial league clash with Canterbury the next day.
“Leeds Met’s results speak for themselves really,” Barnes said. “They are a really good side and I’m expecting a tough encounter.
“We have two huge games in two days so we’ll have to see who’s available and hope we can win both games. A few players will be involved in both.”
