No doubt some of you were fortunate enough to make it out to Sydney on that glorious day ten years ago. Maybe you snagged yourself a ticket at the Telstra and cheered yourself hoarse as Jonny Wilkinson’s last- gasp drop kick secured the World Cup for Martin Johnson’s men.
By far the vast majority of English rugby fans, however, will have watched history being made on the television on an otherwise ordinary Saturday morning. Will have had, in fact, breakfast with Jonny Wilkinson.
And Breakfast with Jonny Wilkinson is the title of an hilarious new comedy film, out this week to celebrate the anniversary of England‘s triumph. On that morning in 2003 a group of people gather to watch the game in their local rugby club bar, little realising that events there would be just as much of an emotional roller coaster as the action on the big screen.
The film features hot new British star George Mackay (Sunshine on Leith), comedy great Norman Pace (Hale and Pace), Nigel Lindsay (Alpha Papa, Four Lions), former The Bill favourite Beth Cordingly, and Aussie Home and Away legend Michael Beckley.
There’s scheming and dirty tricks, winners and losers, steamy sex, a dash of the supernatural, and England winning the World Cup, so don’t miss this treat for rugby fans everywhere.
Tickets are available now for the film’s premiere this Thursday (November 21) at the Empire Leicester Square, in association with the Dallaglio Foundation, which many of the Boys of ’03 are expected to attend.
Tickets can be purchased from www.breakfastwithjonnywilkinson.com with all proceeds going to the Dallaglio Foundation.
