England loosehead Alex Corbisiero is to undergo surgery on his left knee, the injury which he aggravated upon his return in the Argentina game last weekend.
England medical staff had given hope that the British and Irish Lion star would be available for the match against New Zealand, but for a flare-up during training on Tuesday.
The England set-up nor club Northampton Saints have specified a date for when they expect Corbisiero to be back in action as he continues with injury woes to both knees, having had surgery prior to this year’s Six Nations to clear cartilage in his right leg ruling him out of the competition.
