Great British Bike Ride diary – Day 1

route-map-3This morning the TNT Great British Bike Ride set off from Land’s as 31 riders raising money for the Wooden Spoon charity are making their way back towards in time for the London Double Header on Saturday.
In the first leg of the 5-day event, the rider took off from Land’s End at 7am riding 98 miles to Tavistock in .
Following 8 hours of riding for the fastest riders which included a stint alongside former and wing Josh Lewsey, Event organiser Barry Clayton was quick to point out what a great achievement the day was.
“This year sees riders with abilities from both end of the spectrum. Some are in pretty good shape while some others only started riding recently,” he said.
“But whatever their level of fitness all made it to Tavistock Club and that in itself is a great achievement.
“Tomorrow’s leg (88 miles long) goes across the Dartmoor National Park. After today, it won’t be easy but the scenery and the stunning views should help the sore legs.”
In tomorrow’s diary, we’ll meet some of the riders including a duo riding in tandem.
