Room 101: Will Skinner – former Harlequins flanker

Will Skinner 1. Lazy trolley operators
I really can’t stand people who can’t be bothered to put supermarket shopping trolleys away properly after they’ve unloaded all their bags into the car. Call me particular if you like but it only takes one rogue shopper to return their trolley slightly askew to really spoil my day. If they’re going to take the trolley back to the trolley station why leave it a few yards short and at an angle that blocks access and messes up the whole system? Occasionally I find myself rearranging the shopping trolleys just so I don’t add to the chaos! These people must go in to otherwise I’ll have to resort to online shopping!
TRP verdict:  You’re clearly off your trolley thinking this would make Room 101.
2. Football and tennis at the
In no way am I campaigning against these two giants of global sport, it is just their involvement on the Olympic stage that I have a problem with. It is not the fact that both of these sports contradict the traditional view of Olympic sports as wholly amateur, but the fact that the Olympics for any athlete or team involved should be the absolute pinnacle in that particular discipline. I very much doubt that any aspiring footballer or tennis player dreams of winning an Olympic gold as the very peak of their career, and this is where my issue lies. Put both football and tennis at the in to Room 101, or just get rid of the football and Wimbledon. The choice is yours!
TRP verdict:  Would Andy Murray swap the Wimbledon trophy for Olympic Gold? No. you’re in.
3. Out-dated commentary
There is nothing I find more infuriating than watching a great game of rugby on the TV only for it to be to be spoiled by an ex-rugby player giving his wholly outdated view on the game. I regularly have this argument with my dad who supports this rather antiquated commentary style but sadly my thoughts fall on rather old, deaf ears. Rugby is a young professional sport that is evolving rapidly, not only through its rules but the style of play and types of players involved. I feel that if you are not directly involved with rugby after retiring from the sport it is almost impossible to give an informed and accurate opinion after a number of years away from the game. I have to say there are a few from the ‘old school’ that I don’t mind listening to but to be on the safe side I say we chuck all the old boys in there.
TRP verdict:  I’m afraid there will be no dancing in the streets of tonight, this one’s going to be hoofed into touch by a police constable lock forward.
