Northampton confirmed their new-found form with a comprehensive 30-19 win over Exeter at Sandy Park today.
A try from Ken Pisi along with eight points from the boot of Stephen Myler helped the Saints take a 13-6 into half-time.
Gareth Steenson added two penalties to his personal tally against one from Myler to see the home side cut the lead down to just four points but Soane Tonga’uiha crashed over to take the score to 23-12 with just over 20 minutes to go.
Fyjian powerhouse Sireli Naqelevuki brought the Chiefs within striking range 15 minutes from time but Northampton weren’t going to be denied and No.8 GJ Van Velze sealed a famous away win for the Saints.
Meanwhile at Kingsholm, London Irish claimed their third win of the season with a 18-12 success over Gloucester.
George Skivington’s brace of tries saw the Exiles lead 15-6 at the break before Freddie Burns reduced the deficit with two penalties in quick succession on the hour mark.
But ten minutes from time, Tom Homer sealed a rare win for London Irish with a penalty to give themselves some space in the relegation battle.
