Freddie Burns has been called up to the England squad ahead of the clash against New Zealand next Saturday.
The Gloucester fly-half has been in superb form since the start of the season and stirred the Cherry and Whites to victory against Sale yesterday.
He comes in for Toby Flood after the Leicester playmaker suffered a toe injury in the 16-15 defeat to South Africa yesterday at Twickenham.
There are two further additions to the squad with Bath winger Tom Biggs and Burns’ teammate Nick Wood.
Biggs replaces Ugo Monye who carries a calf injury while Wood covers London Irish ALex Corbisiero who is struggling with a knee injury.
Courtney Lawes recovered from his knee injury and he returns to the squad after playing for Northampton yesterday. This means Joe Launchbury will be available for Wasps next week.
England Head Coach Stuart Lancaster said: “Tom is next in line from the Saxons and we are looking forward to getting a look at him. Freddie has been in for two of the last three weeks so we know what he can bring and Nick Wood will provide cover as we manage Alex’s knee at the start of the week.
“Toby Flood’s toe has been re-examined and there is no bone broken but we will need to see how it settles down over the next 24 hours.”
