As the Autumn Test series start next week, the Premiership has one derby left in store before the international break, the Midlands derby.
Leicester host Northampton at Welford Road and, despite both team without their international players, Tigers‘ captain Geordan Murphy is expecting a great game.
He told The Rugby Paper: “It’s never easy to lose your best players but we are used to it now and the other guys in the squad are just as capable to do the job.
“It will be a very tough game against Northampton and we expect a huge battle up front as in any derby.
“They play a good style of rugby and they also have a lot of striking power in the back line with the likes of the Pisi brothers or Dom Waldouck.
“It’s always going to be very tight but if the weather is nice we should see some good rugby.”
The Tigers slipped out of the Top Four last week after conceding a 27-21 defeat to Gloucester but they managed to secure a losing bonus-point.
However, with more luck and less mistakes, Murphy reckons they could have got away with the win.
He said: “We made a few too many mistakes last week and conceded a couple of tries pretty much from kick-off so we found ourselves chasing the game.
“Other than that, our defence was solid but it felt like all the 50-50 calls went their way.
“You could tell by Gloucester’s players reaction after the game what it meant for them. Beating us was huge for them and that gave them that little edge on the day.
“We are disappointed with the result but we have trained hard this week to make sure we get the win in the derby.”
