Worcester head-coach confessed it was hard to pick up the players’ spirit on Monday morning but he is adamant the Warriors are on the verge of doing something “special for the club.”
The Warriors let the win slip away twice on the last kick of the game at home to Bath and Gloucester while they pushed Leicester all the way at Welford Road.
He said: “Missing out on the win at home twice on the last kick of the game was hard to take. The video sessions on Monday was tough but by the end of it, the players were excited and looking forward to the next game.
“Worcester have relied on their forwards and kicking game for their first seven seasons in the Premiership but we are trying to break that mould and score more tries.
“We are prepared to go through that early pain and the players know we are on the cuff on doing something really special for the club.
“Ultimately, you need points on the table and we know our season will take off once we get our first win.”
With two defeats and a draw in three games they travel to Northampton confident they can put the Saints under pressure.
He added: “I think we will have enough striking power in attack to find a few holes.
“But having said that, we’ll have to make sure we have players in support to either score or put some pressure on their line.
“We’ll have to get at least parity in the scrum while trying to control their very effective lineout.
“It’s going to be a brutal arm wrestle for the first 20 minutes but if we are in it by then we’ll have a chance to go for it.”
