Room 101: Chinnor full-back Chris Wolfe-Elder

are hoping to spring a surprise on National One contenders this season after a summer of busy recruitment. New arrival Chris Wolfe-Elder takes us through his pet peeves including watching on at full-back at the forwards contesting mauls.

1. Emails

I hate emails because you never get to the point. It takes 12 times as many emails as one phone call to get the same amount of information. Also, the message you are trying to get across might be read differently by the person receiving it, depending on their mood.

TRP verdict: is equivalent to the junk folder of emails, so it’s going in.

2. Gym Monkeys

This came to mind straight away. A pet hate of mine in the gym is seeing these muscle-bound guys who work out 24-7 but if you asked them to pick something up from the floor, they’d struggle to do it let alone run to catch a bus or train. If it’s not actually making you any fitter, so I don’t understand why they put so much effort in.

TRP verdict: It’s life in a gym but not as we know it. Congrats again.

3. Mauls

I think this is purely down to the fact I’m a back and you never see the ball when the forwards get the bit between their teeth and start mauling. You can plan every single move under the sun yet in some matches they never see the light of day. The one time I tried to get involved, at Jersey, I accidently cleaned out the referee as I rushed to join in. He was on his back on the floor with me stood over desperately apologising. Luckily, he saw the funny side. I’ve stayed well clear ever since and I only run in now to slap whoever the forwards are congratulating on the back when a try is scored.

TRP verdict: You’re really trucking now!
