1. Carl Rimmer – Came into the Chiefs team with very little experience and has done really well. His first showing away at Leinster was particularly good.
2. Chris Whitehead – He’s like a little Jack Russell around the park with the energy he brings. He has decent skills with ball in hand and his set pieces are as good as any.
3. Carl Hayman – I played against him when he was at Newcastle and he was just unbelievable. I can’t imagine anyone leaving him out of a team like this.
4. Dean Mumm – Top quality Aussie who showed some little touches of class on debut against Quins that told you he would be a great addition to the squad.
5. Jamie Cudmore – The big Canadian is an absolute powerhouse of a bloke at Clermont, and a big carrier who could do a fine job for any team in the world.
6. Tom Johnson – He is the first player to come through Exeter and go on to international honours so everything he has achieved is well-deserved. Great team player who does take quite a lot of stick for being born in Germany and playing for England!
7. Francois Louw – He has been fantastic every time I’ve faced him. He does some great work on the floor and contributes effectively all over the pitch.
8. Dan Ward-Smith – Great athlete who was awesome during our time at Bristol and Plymouth. Sadly he wasn’t quite the same player after a knee injury and never got the England recognition he deserved.
9. Shaun Perry – He’s not your typical shape for a scrum-half but he’s a really powerful player. You know he is there with his big voice on the pitch and I would put him as my captain.
10. Jonny Wilkinson – The best I have ever played against. I was in the centre when he was at Newcastle and he tore us apart. His all-round game was incredible, ball in hand and kicking.
11. Tom Arscott – I’ll put my little brother on the wing. He just didn’t stop scoring when he came on the scene at Plymouth and has done well this season for Welsh.
12. Wesley Fofana – He taught us a lesson when we faced him against Clermont both times, an absolutely brilliant player. I couldn’t understand why France picked him on the wing when he does such an incredible job at centre.
13. Phil Dollman – He is so consistent for us; he has great vision and is a fantastic ball player.
14. David Lemi – Mercurial player who makes something happen out of nothing. The year we were relegated at Bristol he ran in a try from our the ten-metre line stepping 14 players and chipping a few as well! I’d be lying if I said he hasn’t stepped me once or twice!
15. Chris Latham – I played against him during his stint at Worcester. He was great in the air and such an attacking threat. It’s just a shame he wore his socks down – not a great style choice.
