1. Eifion Lewis-Roberts – Turned up at Sale around the same time as me in 2005, so I spent a long time with him. Strong scrummager and destructive ball carrier.
2. Sebastien Bruno – No.1 hooker at Sale when I joined and I learned a great deal from him. Scrummaging was his major strength plus his ferocious low tackles.
3. Vadim Cobilas – Powerful Moldovan. While his scrummaging is his main aspect, he is probably the most skilful prop I’ve played with and he’s a real all-rounder. And an extremely good table-tennis player!
4. Lou Reed – Very close friend of mine from the valleys in Wales and, ask any Welsh player, he is always the one with the laughs and the banter. Very good set-piece forward.
5. Dean Schofield – Very big man, very good carrier and another great man off the field. Out of everyone I have played with, he is the one guy who can get a team to play for each other.
6. Jason White – Scottish international who is the biggest tackler I have played with. He always puts his body on the line and would never take a backwards step.
7. Juan Fernandez Lobbe – Like Cobilas, great ball skills, comfortable under a high-ball; can pass like a centre off both hands, and a great kicker! He can do it all.
8. Sebastien Chabal – We don’t need to go into too much explanation for this guy. The ‘Caveman’ was a legend at Sale.
9. Dwayne Peel – So fast, his running of the game is his strength but his ability to bring his big forwards into the game was extremely good.
10. Charlie Hodgson – Just the ultimate at controlling the game. With his distribution you never had to check your run, you knew that he would hit you all the time.
11. Mark Cueto – Just exceptional under the high-ball and I don’t think I ever saw him drop a pass. Very strong defensively and a great finisher for club and country.
12. Lee Thomas – He wouldn’t mind me saying, he was a bit overweight when he came to Sale but he sorted his diet out and had a number of great seasons. A straight runner like Sammy Tuitupou, who just misses out. Lee also had a 60-70 metre goal kick.
13. Will Addison – A devastating finisher and massive tackler. His speed and ability to beat a man one-on-one is up with the best I have seen.
14. Selorm Kuadey – A close friend of mine who sadly died and never fulfilled his potential. Could finish a try with the best of them.
15. Jason Robinson – People always go on about Robbo’s attacking ability but his defence was equally brilliant, you would never see him miss a tackle. Really brave for a smaller player.
