1. Kyle Trainor – Fantastic leader who brings his international experience to the squad. Very vocal and very much a player who leads by example. A key cog in the Bristol squad.
2. Rob Webber – Such a great lad off the field but he’s a great leader once on it. Always looking to go forward and he takes the whole team with him.
3. Phil Vickery – I was in the academy at Wasps when he was about to retire but he was still going strong. Such a character but I did my best to avoid him in training at all cost.
4. Joe Launchbury – We came through the Wasps academy together and he’s gone on to massive England honours. Another great leader who sets the standards really high.
5. Ben Glynn – I’ve known him for years playing age-group level with England. A lot of flair and pace for a lock which is always nice to see. Nice to play with him at Bristol after all these years.
6. Joe Worsley – I was lucky enough to play with him a few times when I was at Wasps and he was just phenomenal. The ultimate blindside and an absolute tackling beast.
7. Jack Lam – A powerhouse from Samoa who epitomises everything you’d want from your openside. A monster who’s unbelievable over the ball.
8. Billy Vunipola – He was still at school when he rocked up at the Wasps academy but he was already that big. His pace and skills are what make him special though.
9. Will Cliff – He marshals the team around the park really well given all his Premiership experience. A great character to have around the field.
10. Danny Cipriani – Such a mercurial talent and I can’t see why he hasn’t more England caps. I’m not sure what else he can do but I’d definitely have him in my side.
11. Tom Varndell – Recently became the joint top-try scorer of all time in the Premiership. His try record speaks for itself.
12. Ricky Flutey – A very good player but I’m picking him because of the influence he had on me at Wasps. Great to help out the younger lads and pass on all his knowledge.
13. Manu Tuilagi – What can you say about him? He’s had his injuries issues but when fit he’s an absolute monster and I have to have him in my team.
14. Christian Wade – I went to school with Christian so I’ve known him for years. Everyone watches his highlights where he beats people in a phone box. In great form right now, too.
15. Jason Woodward – Huge contribution in our quest to avoid relegation. He’s only been in Bristol for a few weeks but he’s been phenomenal. Pace, skills, leadership, he’s got it all.
