1. Andrew Sheridan – The former England powerhouse is the strongest man I have ever played rugby with. For that reason alone he has to make the team!
2. Sebastien Bruno – I used to play with him at Sale – he was a man of few words but his actions tell the full story. His work rate was unrivalled with the physicality few hookers could match.
3. Martin Castrogiovanni – An incredible scrummager and every loosehead’s worst nightmare. On top of that he carries and tackles like a back-rower.
4. Jonathan Mills – His body is shaped like a bottle of vinegar and he’s terrible at taking banter but he’s the first name on the team sheet. Millsy is the only guy you want next to you heading into battle.
5. Alun Wyn Jones – The Wales workhorse epitomises everything you want from your No.5, a stand out talent and a solid all-round rugby player.
6. James Haskell – He is one of the biggest and boldest character in rugby. He gives as good as he gets on the banter front and he’s an absolute machine on the pitch
7. Steffon Armitage – It was a close call between the Toulon star and Julian Salvi. Both horrible to play against but Armitage edges with his pure turnover count and his powerful carrying game.
8. Sebastien Chabal – The Caveman needs no introduction. He brings insane physicality in any teams he plays for while putting the fear of god into the opposition.
9. Danny Care – Flamboyant both on and off the pitch. A great guy to have around a team and earns his spot week-in week-out.
10. Charlie Hodgson – Hands down the best fly-half I have ever played with. The old master has great vision and is the best at putting players into gaps.
11. David Strettle – A fellow northerner who has a phenomenal work rate and is a magnet to the try line!
12. Will Hurrell – He has been outstanding for us this season so far in a relatively new position. He always gets over the gainline and fully deserves this spot in this team.
13. Jonathan Joseph – The best outside break in world rugby. He is a very tough player to play against and, at just 24, he is only going to get better.
14. Josh Drauniniu – My old London Welsh mate has both power and pace. He is an electric stepper and the most exciting winger I have ever played with.
15. Ben Foden – The Northampton star has the ability to create something from nothing while being solid as a rock at the back.
