1. Pete Edwards – Pete “the meat” or “Hobnob” as he was known. My former London Welsh teammate is a great scrummager and when it mattered he could make some tackles – big too.
2. James Campbell – Known as “Chesty”, a huge club man and a great servant at Esher, as well as a skilful hooker. The only time in life he was serious was when he was on a rugby pitch.
3. Mike Ross – He was unknown when Dean Richards signed him at Harlequins back in 2006. He would always be mocked by the boys but now he is an Ireland international and one of the best there is.
4. Jonathan Mills – Someone who every week would lead from the front and inspire the team. My first captain at London Welsh and a top man.
5. Joe Launchbury – He was 18, just out of school, and yet held his own in the Wasps team alongside the legend that is Simon Shaw.
6. Chris Hala’ufia – The hardest man I’ve ever played with and unfortunately against. Put the biggest hit against me of my career.
7. Chris Robshaw – He’s England‘s captain for a reason and the hardest working player I ever saw in training.
8. Louis Picamoles – I played against him at U21s level and he was already a monster. He stood out as a class above that night.
9. Joe Simpson – A member of Richmond U14s, although he played 15 then. He can score tries no other scrum-half in the world can score.
10. Andrew Merhtens – Having grown up watching him play for New Zealand, to be able to play alongside him when I was 18 was amazing. His game management was just incredible.
11. Alesana Tuilagi – He adds balance to my wings and in his prime he was a beast. I played against him in my Quins debut against Samoa and managed to take him down. The proudest tackle of my career!
12. Dom Waldouck – He’s been so unlucky with injuries. Captained me at Richmond U14s through to U18s and you knew from then he was class. Pulled strings, skilful and a massive hunger for success.
13. Matt Burke – I have never seen a player have such a perfect game as him when I played against him at Newcastle. It was at full-back, but I had to fit him in somewhere.
14. Christian Wade – He is the most electric runner I’ve ever played with. His pace is scary for oppositions and he scores tries others simply can’t.
15. Mike Brown – Having played with him in the A league when I was 18 he always stood out and it’s great to see him as one of the best in the world now in his position.
