1. Davit Kubriashvili – I played with Davit at Brive and the guy was unbelievable, one of the very best in world rugby. Incredibly powerful and very good technically in the scrum.
2. David Paice – One of the most underrated players in the Premiership. He’s got an incredible skillset: he’s such a consistent thrower and is great with ball in hand.
3. Faan Rautenbach – I have never seen anyone hit a ruck quite like him, when he hit it the whole thing moved. Add to that his ability as a fantastic scrummager and he is straight in.
4. Nick Kennedy – Quins are lucky to have him and we’d love him back. A super second rower who was fantastic for us.
5. Bob Casey – Bob and Nick come as a pair really, Bob’s leadership is what separated him from the rest, he is an inspirational guy and together with Nick, formed an ideal pairing.
6. Olivier Magne – When he came to Irish it did not take long to figure out just what a skilful man he was. He commanded respect while also bringing that French timing to training as well, I don’t think he ever turned up on time!
7. Steffon Armitage – The guy is absolute quality, stronger than anyone else in world rugby over the ball and a great carrier who has the handling skills of a back.
8. Chris Hala’ufia – Well I don’t want to play against this guy so I suppose it’s a safe bet to put him in my team. Chris is a very chilled out guy but you don’t want to make him angry.
9. Paul Hodgson – His communication skills were what really stood out. He knew how to get the best out of his pack and constantly provided quick ball.
10. Jonny Wilkinson – I’ve played outside Jonny for England and he is such an inspirational figure. Not just what he could do in games, his devotion to training was incredible and his work ethic set the standard.
11. Sailosi Tagicakibau – Always beats the first man, no matter where he was on the pitch or how he received the ball. His brilliance won us so many tight games.
12. Mike Catt – Mike has got the biggest boot of anyone that I have every played with, his spiral kick was just ridiculous. In fact his whole skillset was amazing and he’s a pretty good coach now so I hear.
13. Seilala Mapusua – He had an unbelievable balance to his game; so powerful he could run through you but he had soft hands and great skill and was an unbelievable defender as well.
14. Jason Robinson – I grew up watching Jason so to get the chance to play with him was a dream come true. The guy was basically impossible to defend against.
15. Delon Armitage – I’ve played a lot with Delon, and as a fly-half I knew I could just float a pass out wide and there he’d be, taking it at pace and breaking tackles for fun. Solid under the high ball and can knock over kicks from his own half.
