1. Paul James – His tackle rate is immense for a front row forward. We played together for Wales and he was a great guy to have lining up alongside you.
2. Lloyd Burns – I’m going to have to stick myself in. It’s my team so I think I’m allowed to pick who I want!
3. Gethin Jenkins – Not just known for his work in the scrum, he’s another that gets round the field and has that athleticism to go with his power and I’d shift him across from loosehead to tighthead.
4. Luke Charteris – Luke is a close friend of mine and is in the side for his height. That’s a massive weapon for Luke and in addition to all that he’s got a huge work-rate on him.
5. Joe Tekori – He played against me for Samoa and the Barbarians and he brings an incredible physical presence so he’d make a very good partnership in the second row with Luke.
6. Radike Samo – I played against him at the World Cup and I think he prefers No.8 but I want to have Toby in this team. Radike is a very strong robust man and he adds a lot of power.
7. Rob Nash – The best man at my wedding and my best friend since we were young. He’s not the biggest in the world but punches well above his weight and has a great engine.
8. Taulupe Faletau – Toby is one of my best mates in the professional game. This lad is so powerful, skilful and quick – he has all the attributes to be a perfect No.8, you name it, Toby’s got it.
9. Mike Phillips – His size is a real asset and in my opinion, the best No.9 in world rugby. He’s a top bloke to know off the field as well.
10. Ryan James – A great mate of mine from my time with Cross Keys. A top man with great banter and I’ll also admit he’s not a bad rugby player either.
11. Shane Williams – Shane’s record with Wales and Ospreys speaks for itself. He’s a magician when he’s on the ball and scored countless tries. On top of all that talent he’s a great social character off the field.
12. Leon Andrews – I played with Leon at Cross Keys and he’s got a fantastic attacking game but an even better defensive one. He’s also got a really strong boot to add to that game and is capable of clearing any danger.
13. Jonathan Davies – We were part of the World Cup squad and it was a pleasure playing with him. He can pick a gap anywhere on the field and combines that running ability with raw power.
14. George North – In the team for his power and pace – he’s such a strong guy and with his physique and speed he’s pretty much a unique proposition in world rugby at the moment.
15. Leigh Halfpenny – An exceptional full-back with a complete game as we saw on the Lions tour. He’s quick, with good feet, and there’s nothing he can’t do. An easy choice at 15.
