Chessum out till next season in England and Tigers injury blow

England fears

lock Ollie Chessum will miss the rest of this domestic season and ‘s summer tour to Japan and after shoulder surgery.

The versatile forward will return as the gets underway for 2024/25 towards the end of September, but will be absent for Tigers’ push to reach the top seven this year and secure Champions Cup at Welford Road for that campaign.

He will also be a significant loss to his country, having started all five of their games earlier this year and featuring in all seven games England played in their run to third-place in last year’s .

The 23-year-old was able to play a full 80 minutes Leicester’s last competitive game, a 21-19 defeat to Bears at Welford Road, but the club decided surgery was necessary for the “ongoing injury”.
