Exeter secure Feyi-Waboso on long-term contract

Exeter have signed 21-year-old winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso on a “long-term” contract.

Feyi-Waboso joined the Devonians midway through last season following the liquidation of , transferring his studies in medicine that he had began at Aston University to the University of Exeter.

He has enjoyed a breakout season in the South West this season, scoring six tries in 14 games for his club and making his debut for England last month in the .

The Welsh-born winger came off the bench in each of England’s first three games, producing an excellent score in an otherwise disappointing defeat to to earn a start in their win against Ireland in the following round.

He was ruled out of England’s final match against after self-reporting symptoms of concussion but should return soon to spur on a young Chiefs squad’s push for the play-offs.

“People are probably aware we’ve been looking to bring in young players to reduce the age of our squad in more recent times,” Exeter boss Rob Baxter said.

“Ultimately, we saw a player who had massive physical attributes and huge potential, but hadn’t played a lot of .

“We hoped that we could give him that game time and that opportunity, then hopefully he would come through and obviously things have happened very quickly for him – which I’m delighted with.

“It’s great to know that he’s going to be here long-term and hopefully we can really help him with his rugby development so that he can go on to get many more England caps and see what else he can achieve down the line.”
