Dragons prop forced to retire at 25 after serious training ground injury

The have confirmed prop Jack Cosgrove has been forced to retire from on medical advice.

Cosgrove, 25, hangs up his boots with immediate effect after sustaining a serious eye injury in a training session back in October.

And despite receiving specialist treatment and consultation, the former Bear forward will now receive support in transitioning into his next career.

As the circumstances around how Cosgrove was injured remain unknown, a statement issued by the PRO14 club read: “Dragons can confirm that prop Jack Cosgrove has retired from professional rugby on medical grounds with immediate effect.”

“Everyone at the Dragons wishes Jack every success in his future and he will continue to receive professional help and support from the region as he makes the transition from playing.”

A feature of our Young Gun spotlight in May 2014, Cosgrove came through the academy at Warriors and represented at Under-20 level.
