Worcester Warriors sign highly-rated Ted Hill to 2022 extension

Warriors and Under-20 star Ted Hill has committed to a two-year contract extension at Sixways Stadium.

Described by Worcester director of Alan Solomons as one of the ‘outstanding young players in England’, Hill’s previous contract was due to expire next summer.

But Solomons was keen to keep a hold of the 20-year-old’s services and couldn’t be happier to extend Hill’s deal through to 2022.

“He has already cemented his place in our starting XV and it is but a matter of time before he regularly in the England team,” Solomons said of Hill.

“Over and above his exceptional ability as a player he is a fantastic bloke and a great team man, who, I believe, will develop into an outstanding leader.

“To see a home-grown player of Ted’s calibre decide his future lies with the club is a massive statement and ties in perfectly with our vision to develop Warriors through the medium of our young players.”

Hill played a senior role in the back row last summer at the U20 in , where Steve Bates’ side were left to settle for fifth-place as went back-to-back.

The tournament marked a return to the development side for Hill, who was capped for the senior side by against last December.

“It’s a really exciting time to be at the club,” he said. “We have a good academy and it’s about developing homegrown players. It’s important to keep growing the club through our youth set-up.”

“I’m honoured that the club have seen me as a key part of that and I am really pleased to be a part of it. But it’s not all about me, there is a lot of good young talent coming through and it’s about keeping those players and harnessing their abilities.”
