London Irish announce return to capital in ground-share move with Brentford

Exiles to leave the Madejski Stadium in move back home

will leave the Madejski Stadium in 2020 after sealing a deal which will see them ground-share with Brentford FC in their new home.
Irish have been playing their home matches at Reading’s Madejski Stadium for almost 19 years, 30 miles away from their training base in Sunbury.
But Brentford have began construction on a new 17,250-capacity ground near Kew Bridge, and the Exiles have moved to return back to London ready for the 2020-2021 season by closing an agreement with the EFL Championship club.
London Irish president Mick Crossan said: “In moving to the Brentford Community Stadium we feel confident that we will be able to attract a larger supporter base to join us as we build for the future.
“We are therefore very pleased to have agreed this deal with Brentford’s management, and are looking forward to working closely with them to make the Brentford Community Stadium an outstanding home for us.
“The stadium will be an outstanding venue. It is the right size in a great location and will provide a superb match-day experience for our supporters and sponsors alike.”
