Danny Cipriani attends Jersey court and is fined following arrest outside nightclub

Gloucester signing Cipriani pleads guilty to two charges

fly-half Danny Cipriani has plead guilty to charges of common assault and resisting arrest in a Jersey court following his arrest outside a nightclub in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The new signing has been fined £2,000 by magistrates and ordered to pay £250 in compensation to a female police officer, having remained in custody for 24 hours waiting for his court hearing.
Cipriani, who had additional charges of larceny and acting disorderly on licenced premises dropped, will have seven days to pay the fine or risk a sentence of ten weeks in prison.
The timing of Cipriani’s arrest comes a little over two weeks before the Cherry and Whites take on in their 2018-19 opener, and after his re-entry into the England fold for June’s defeat to South Africa after a three-year exile.
Appearing in the third Test in Cape Town, Cipriani was adamant he would “do everything I can” to keep his place in ‘ plans with the in Japan on the horizon.
Cipriani’s arrival at Kingsholm led to Billy Burns departing to the PRO14 to join , while his old team are set to welcome Highlanders fly-half Lima Sopoaga to this week.
