Hartpury and Gloucester have come to an agreement for five players to sign dual registration deals with the Championship club.
The quintet all have prior experience playing at the Gloucester affiliate and comprise of props Ciaran Knight and Alex Seville, second row Alex Craig, scrum-half Charlie Chapman and utility back Tom Seabrook.
Hartpury head coach Mark Cornwell is making preparations for the start of the season when Yorkshire Carnegie make the visit to college grounds, and Cornwell views all players as key components for his plans to build on last season.
“Ciaran joined us later on in the season and did a cracking job when we needed him to,” Cornwell said.
“We like the look of him and he’s got a big future in the game so he’s going to do well for us.
“Obviously Alex Craig has played a lot of rugby for us after his injury and before his injury so it’s good to know we’ve got him.
“He was outstanding at times last season and he’s developing into a very good lock with a lot of potential.
“Charlie Chapman has played a fair bit of BUCS rugby for us and he was in and out of the Championship side.
“He’s signed a new contract with Gloucester now and I’m glad he’s still part of what we’re about going forward. He had a good World Under-20 Championship with Scotland so he’s coming along nicely.”
“We haven’t seen enough of Alex Seville but he’s done a good job again and he’s been with England Under-20s.
“He’s a good loosehead, a strong scrummager and he’s got a big future as well.
“We’re really pleased to have these five and hopefully we’ll be able to get them on the rugby field.”
