Gloucester appoint Andrew Stanley

Gloucester Director of Nigel Davies today confirmed that current Academy Manager Andrew Stanley will take over as the Cherry and Whites new Forwards Coach with immediate effect.
With Carl Hogg moving up the M5 recently to become the new Head Coach at Warriors, Davies has moved quickly to fill the vacancy.
Stanley, who has been in charge of the academy for the past 12 months, played almost 200 first team games for before he retired from senior rugby in 1998.
Following a spell as Director of Rugby with College, he moved to as their Academy Manager in 2005 before returning to Gloucester in the same role a year ago.
Davies said: “Andrew has impressed everyone at the club over the past 12 months with his rugby knowledge and also his strong work ethic. He very quickly earned everyone’s respect when he joined us last summer.
“He’s Gloucester Rugby through and through, totally buys into what we’re trying to achieve and is completely committed to doing what’s best for the club.
“He’s challenging himself and moving from what some might say is a slightly safer role. But he’s more than qualified to take on this new position, I know he’s excited about it and I’m confident that he’s going to be a great success.”
