PETER Jackson’s excellent tribute to rugby’s latest knight in last week’s paper gave rise to the thought: Would Gerald Davies get a game in today’s Premiership?
He may have played 46 times for Wales and five times for the British and Irish Lions but my money would be on him turning out for a team like
Rumney or Whitchurch on Saturday after noons rather than London Welsh or Cardiff.
Speedy he may have been but coaches up and down the land would have not given him a chance at the highest level – too small. And what a shame that would have been.
