Last weekend Wharfedale – currently fifth in National Two North – played league leaders Lymm with 13 homegrown players in the starting line-up.
Just before lockdown, Wharfedale won the National Colts Cup, the final played at Worcester, with a side which included several sons of the players who had done so much to steer the club through its various promotions in the 2000s to Level Three, where we played for 20 years.
Many of those cup winners have now graduated to the First XV and played last week’s match.
