Just when you thought that it couldn’t get any worse at the RFU, CEO Billy Sweeney receives a ‘bonus’ of £358,000, taking his salary for the year to £1.1m, which he says is ‘justified’.
When you consider the debt that the game is in, with no sign of things improving, ever, and the laying off of 40-plus staff, one would have to be a very special person to even consider paying themselves a bonus.
I came to rugby from football because I thought that there was more integrity throughout the game.
