I SAW two of the best matches of the season last Saturday.
The first was “live” between Stow on the Wold and Longlevens, a Level 6 match which ended as a draw, 34-all. Exciting, skilful, well refereed and in front of a good crowd of about 450, who applauded both squads at the end. The “man of the match” and “dog of the day” awards in the bar afterwards, were great fun. At least eight players would have been candidates for county or similar honours if there were still such opportunities.
Then I watched the England match on TV and felt so sorry...
