STEVE Borthwick is doing a great job in charge of the national side as are his players and our recent U20 world champions.
Nobody is more pleased than me to see England making real progress.
However, the coaches are still doing their jobs with one hand tied behind their backs.
And the RFU is to blame.
Paul Gustard recently made the case for abandoning the overseas player qualification rule and Nick Cain the need to limit overseas numbers playing in England.
Jeff Probyn recently recalled the success of the County Championship for giving talented players a clear pathway. Plus it gives a chance for spectators who don't live near Twickenham to see future prospects.
Our coaches need all the help they can get – the RFU and Premiership clubs are not offering that help.
