Connection to the elite is missing

In last week’s paper, Nick Cain raised issues for Premiership clubs and their acolytes at the RFU to ponder. He asks why the governing body seems ‘hell-bent’ on letting those clubs keep their ring fence.
He queried why many end-of-season Premiership matches are played in front of crowds well under the respective ground capacities. He comes to the obvious conclusion that ring fencing is a major cause.
Nick points to the unfair conditions put on entry to the Premiership. Not surprisingly, Championship clubs have refused to accept those conditions. He wrote that a compromise has been worked out...
